Victoria Falls

The Victoria Falls, known for generations by the local tribes as  Mosi-oa-Tunya (the Smoke that Thunders) is a huge waterfall on the Zambezi river and it has been a Mecca for travellers since the Scottish Missionary and Explorer David Livingstone stumbled upon it on 17 November 1855.

The falls lay on the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe, both sides being geared up to accommodate the traveller but the Zambia side and the town of Livingstone are especially hospitable. Livingstone and the surrounding bush offer accommodation (both backpackers and historic luxury hotels), national parks, extreme sports and restaurants.
